Why a Travel Advisor Never Books Their Own Trips on Google

Why I Stopped Booking My Own Trips on Google (And What I Do Instead)

Overhead view of a wooden desk featuring an open laptop with multiple browser tabs showing coastal travel photos and maps. Next to the laptop is a smartphone on an active call screen, a navy blue passport with a gold globe emblem, a boarding pass, a dark purple notebook with a gold leaf design, and a gold pen.

I used to be exactly like you. Twenty-three tabs open. One for flights, one for the resort, three more comparing reviews that all contradicted each other. I told myself I was being thorough. Really, I was just tired and no closer to booking anything.

Then I became a Certified Travel Advisor and Cruise Counsellor, and I learned something that changed how I travel for good. The information you find on Google is only a fraction of what's actually available. The best perks, the smartest pricing windows, and the vendor relationships that make a trip feel effortless are not sitting on page one of a search result. They live behind a phone call.

Here's what actually happens when someone sends me a "just find me something nice" message.

I'm not typing their request into a search bar. I'm matching destination, season, budget, and vibe against relationships I've built directly with cruise lines, resorts, and tour operators. That means I know when a ship is being repositioned, and prices are about to drop. I know which resorts are running unpublished upgrade offers this month. I know which supplier will actually pick up the phone at 11 pm if a flight gets cancelled.

That last part matters more than people realize. When you book through a search engine, you're on your own if something goes sideways. When you book through me, I'm the one making the call to fix it while you're still asleep.

The perks are where it gets fun.

Every client I work with gets access to things that never show up in a public listing. Cabin upgrades. Onboard credit. Complimentary drink packages. A hotel savings card just for showing up to a free consultation. None of that costs you extra. It's built into the relationships I've spent years developing, and it's one of the biggest reasons DIY booking will always leave value on the table.

So what do I actually do instead of Googling it myself?

I pick up the phone or send an email to the people I already know. I ask about pricing that isn't published. I confirm which sailing dates or travel windows are quietly better deals than what's advertised. And I do it as your single point of contact before, during, and after the trip, so you're never bouncing between five different customer service lines trying to get an answer.

That's the real difference between a search engine and an advisor. Google gives you information. I give you a plan, backed by relationships, timed to save you money, and backed up when something doesn't go as expected.

Ready to stop guessing and start planning?

Book your free consultation, and I'll show you exactly what I can unlock for your next trip that Google never will. Availability changes by the minute, so the earlier we talk, the more options you have.
